SCIENTIFIC ASSOCIATION FOR THE PROTECTION OF ENVIRONMENTAL RESOURCES A.S.T.R.Ambiente is a non-profit scientific association, whose activity aims at protecting environmental resources through: 1- the spread of environmental awareness; 2- the promotion of research for the growth of knowledge and initiatives that will solve the deterioration of the environment in a critical and constructive way; 3- the organisation of culture, professional and technical training courses; 4- the drawing up of agreements for community studies and research, in cooperation with national and international agencies. The principles on which the association’s activity is based are the following: - first and foremost the association is "scientific" and its purpose is to aver and underline the needs to intervene the environment with initiatives based on sound scientific knowledge; - therefore, on one hand, it is necessary not to be influenced by feelings or irrational and emotional factors and on the other, by misguide confidence that the environment will automatically react to pressure, even if it is "left to its own devices"; - it is therefore necessary to adopt a policy based on caution in the absence of exhaustive date, even where immediate and effective intervention is called for; - the association aims at promoting an ever more integrated cultural and territorial vision in order to correlate physical-chemical aspects of problems with the biological, economic, regulatory, humanistic and social ones. The cultural background of its founder members, among which there are biologists, engineers, jurists and economists, reflects these ideas. A.S.T.R.Ambiente welcomes new members and is in need of the intellectual and financial support of bodies, organisations and anyone who wishes to dedicate his/her time and energies to the preservation of the environment. The national headquarters of the Association are located in Via Gregorio VII, 126 Rome tel. 06/6390300 and it has offices throughout Italy. |
